Acorn 130 F3 Error

I have a lift with an F3 Error which only occurs travelling down the rail. Going up it is completely normal. When descending it will go only about 8 inches before it stops with an F3 error. I have swapped the board… same problem. Checked the brushes…they are like new. Any suggestions?

Which version PCB T700 or earlier and have you measured the actual motor current?
From memory it used to be around 3A downwards and 7-12A upwards
Might be worth opening up the motor and hoovering up the carbon dust and making sure there are no shorts or damage across the segments of the commutator.

Did you resolve this issue, i came across it a few times with T700 boards, it was down to a combinatiom of the track and board, try taking covers off and slackening the 17mm bolts that hold chasis together and doing them back up but not overtightening (obviously whilts on the track)

Have not resolved the issue yet but I will give the chassis bolts a try.

Did anyone figure out what causes this f3 error, I was installing a unit for a client, I had combined two pieces of track from different lots. I did notice there was a difference in the rail thickness at the joint. the Empty unit worked great on the top 5 feet but on the bottom 8 feet, the sound would change and then about half way down i would get a F3 error. It happened with two consecutive units that had no connection – In the end i had three left hand units, the first two gave me the error in the same spot (half way down the lower rail) and the third unit worked like there was nothing wrong… The one thing i did have in the first two was 9ah batteries instead of 7ah. but i have been using 9ah batteries in the last 10 units with no issue… it seemed like it was the track. Unfortunately I did not want to take the extra step and change out the batteries on the third unit to see if that was an issue.
Going to set up a test track in the garage and see if i can figure it out. – My hunch is, it was that particular run of track ???? but i am having a hard time figuring that one out. I have noticed a slight variance in the rail in the past that has caused some other issues such as strong clunk on the connection or one time it was the unit really jerking when the units starts up. I even took a unit that I had installed at home and never had that issue, but did have that same issue on that particular run of rail.. I found i could solve that issue by loosening the 13mm bolts that hold the motor and shift it one way or the other, that seemed to help…

This is a follow-up to a previous report about my F3 error. Summary, I was doing a local install and had two units in a row travel down a rail to the second section and both fail at the same spot. producing F3 error. Fortunately I had a total of three newer units (all in the 15000 model range) and the third one worked perfect. Since that time I have successfully installed the first unit I originally tried, on a different track with no issues worked perfect, sounded normal. I am beginning to believe there is a manufacturing tolerances for the rail and the acorn Chasse frame. Perhaps a combination of wrong unit on the wrong rail… Not sure – With that thought in mind, loosening the mounting bolts for the motor and loosening the roller bolts might be providing the needed space to overcome the F3 Error.
