Stannah 600 Powered Footrest issue

ParticipantHi, I have a Stannah 600 stairlift with retractable rail and powered footrest. It is only about 6 years old and had light use, now being used once daily to keep the batteries refreshed. Recently the powered footrest motor has started running on after the footrest has folded or unfolded. When unfolding it runs on for 2 or 3 seconds after the footrest is down and when folding it is usually about a second or so. I have tried switching off dipswitch 4 on the option board which makes no difference whatsoever as the footrest continues to work with it switched off. I have also tried disconnecting the footrest motor to see if it induces a fault to clear but no fault registers with the motor disconnected.
Can anyone help with resetting the motor so it runs sufficiently just to fold and unfold the footrest without the annoying running on afterwards? I have the installation manual for the 600 but it only details the installation of the manual footrest model.
Thanks for any help!

Participant@ianb Thank you so much for your two useful tips. I tightened up the footrest clutch gear and it has resolved the running on problem. Also replaced the batteries when the shaking on the downward run started again and this has also solved that problem.
