Acorn 120 rail question

Hi all:
My parent’s home has an Acorn 120 lift, which works very well, so I recently purchased 2 sets of used Acorn 120 lifts for my own home. My parent’s lift is fairly short, for about 7 stairs or so, and the rail is in one piece. The ones I purchased are each for a flight of 14 stairs so the rail is in 2 pieces that you join together, with one charging point in the upper segment and one in the lower segment.
I suddenly realized that the stairs I intend to install the lift is much shorter. So much shorter that I essentially only need to use one of the rail segments. So my question is without modifying the existing rails, will the lift work with just one rail segment?
One obvious issue is that each segment contains a charge point, so if I’m only using 1 segment, then it won’t be charging half the time, and will beep to indicate that it is not at the charge point. If that’s the only issue, I guess I can just use the remote to send it back down to the other charge point.
I notice in the installation video that you’re supposed to connect wires between the 2 rails, which I am assuming links up both charge points and allows them to charge. If I’m only using 1 segment, and don’t have the wires connected, will the lift not work then? I am hoping I don’t have to modify what I bought by removing bits from one rail segment just so I can use the other rail segment.

Yes it will with one charge strip as long as you connect it properly but why not add the other charge to the top and do the job properly. You will have to fit the limit bar and ultimate limit block to the top of the rail anyway so for a extra 20 mins work you could add the top charge point. Also, without sounding condescending should you be doing this work if you need to ask these questions

Thanks for the reply! I think the installation will not be an issue, as my parents installed their Acorn lift by themselves with no issue and it has been operating flawlessly for several years. This is what led me to buy my own set. I am familiar with installing the limit bar, but did no consider the fact that the sets I bought have 2 piece rails.
I only looked at the set for a few minutes to make sure if it in perfect working order, and will not take delivery for some days, so after I got home, I started considering how to utilize only 1 piece of the rail and did not know if it is easy to remove the charge point and relocate it to the other rail.
I guess from what you are saying it is easy to relocate the charge point.

There is no positive, the charger is 15Vac.

I meant keep the brown wire from the track loom at the top because the bottom charge strip will be wired that way, not that it will stop it working the other way
