Awful vibration

Hi, I’ve seen other posts regarding vibration, but none that really fit the problem we’re having. Our local council fitted us with a Meditek stairlift brand new two years ago. We had no
problem with until its first annual service. Since this, there has been this painful vibration which can be felt throughout the house. We have had them out to it on several occasions
and they never sort it out. Last visit they said the gearbox had ‘gone’ and we were left without a stairlift for almost a week. When it came back, it was even worse, all that seemed to have
changed was the pitch of the vibration, and the seat is so loose now it doesn’t feel safe. Absolutely any help or advice will be gratefully received, as there seems little point in calling the council again.
thanks john -

Ask to council to get a qualified and independent meditek dealer to have a look. They should be happy to get a second opinion, after all saftey I everything and if they refuse speak directly to meditek about it as they are VERY saftey conscious. Where in the country are you?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. We live in Lincoln, and our council are notoriously bad when it comes to anything disabled. But, I will ask. I understand the safety conscious bit, but it is not born out by their actions. Without going into huge detail, they have left us without any safe hot water due to the temperature being set at 42 deg c instead of 60, we now have possibly legionaires to consider. Going back to the stairlift, the sideways movement that wasn’t there before they took it away to repair is frightening. I can move it 5 inches in most directions at the top, something that we didn’t experience before. But as I said, I will certainly ask. With having prostate problems, it is agony to use.
Thanks john -

If its as bad as you say it is take a video on your mobile as evidence and call meditek direct. Meditek take poor install very seriously. Also stop using the lift and demand someone from the council come and look at the stairlift today. If they wont tell them you’ve contacted the lift maker and would hate to have to call the local paper.

When you say the lift moves 5″ is that the seat or the carriage? For a Meditek carriage to move that much the pinion would jump the rack causing major damage to the rail! If you mean the seat is moving? Then either the seat post isn’t locked into place by the grub screw the seat post bolt is missing! the the shim in the seat post is missing! or they have left the seat level locking nuts loose! Either way it’s not good! And needs seeing too asap! Meditek state that all the bolts in the seat levelling section should be torqued up and loctite applied to the bolts, most installers do them ft and don’t bother with the loctite!
As said before ring Meditek and report the install the them
