I just purchased a used Acorn 180 stairlift for my Mother. Could you send the installation manual? I was told there was programing that needed to be done but hope I can do so myself and safe the $1100 installation charge.
Thank you.

I would like the manual, I joined the forum but can’t seem to figure out how to PM. I have a chair for my 16-year-old son and the batteries died. I ordered new ones but need to reprogram the lift. Acorn has been zero help. Mine was also purchased and installed second hand by someone my father knew before he passed.

If you don’t have the manual, this is somewhere to start: http://okprops.com/how-to-problem-solve-an-acorn-180-or-bison-80-stairlift/
-
spiriguyParticipant
Thank you Okmobility , I already recorded it .I got an error code small ”o” at regular intervals when the chair is going up . It’s not a big “0” as if the osg was faulty So i wonder if the installation manual would writed about it..
-
okmobilityMember
That error code means that the overspeed governor isn’t rotating. Message me your email address and I can send you the manual.
-
ianbParticipant
The error code means the rotation of the osg is not being picked up by the optical sensor. a couple of possibilities. As above post states or faulty sensor(check the 3 wires onto the sensor board are intact) and the sensor position is seeing the flag going in and out if the osg is rotating
-
spiriguyParticipant
Hi okmobility , have you emailed me the manual ??
-
okmobilityMember
Yes. Let me know if you don’t get it.
-
spiriguyParticipant
I received it , thanks a lot .

Hello,
I have an Acorn 180 curved rail, second hand, just installed for my mother. When powered up I got F7 code for the overspeed relay trip. Per instructions I manually moved it up but it did not reset. If the switch is bad where could i find a replacement?
Thank you much for support -

Is the track clean? Compacted dust makes the rail shine which in turn means the osg doesn’t grip and rotate at the correct speed.

HI , I’m wondering if a kit of lithium battery 14.4 volts , 5600 m.a.h. would fit on a 180 acorn wich was previously using nic/cad batterys. The watt/power from the lithium battery is higher but would it be damaging the control board by using 14,4 volts instead of around 13 volts . I already tried a test for 2 weeks and didn’t seem to damaged anything . Acorn start to manufactured liftchair that are using lithium battery as i could see on the web ,How do we recognize the new one from the oldest .

The new one that uses lithium bats are the 565 controller pcb ones

I talked with Acorn and verified that my chair is a 2018 model which means it should have a T565 controller (It has the board without the switches). We installed it. It runs fine, but we can’t get it into P1 PROGRAM mode.
It is displaying J1 when backed below the top charge point. When we hold the 3 footrest safety switches, it displays E1, but even after many seconds it doesn’t display U1.
Has anyone seen this? Is there some trick, or are there different board models from 2018?

Hi there, just purchased a used stairlift for my daughter, this is overwhelming but can’t afford the installation costs from acorn. I was wondering if someone can send me the installation manual so I know how far to install it from the wall on the steps.

Does anyone still need installation manual? I can E-Mail one.

Sorry, I only have the Service Manual. I don’t know if the installation manual is available.

There are at least five different Acorn 180s in my experience. Wrong version could result in a costly and time-consuming repair job that is not for newbies.

For those who are trying to install a used acorn 180, I have a lot of different track pieces and other parts because I purchased a second unit for parts. Let me know what you need and I will give you a price plus shipping.
-
RobsRepairsParticipant
Nice! A client built a 4-bend stairlift with $1K of parts. Another client is missing a piece at the top and another at the bottom…he did not look at installed photos. In Western Canada, most kifts we decomission go into the dump — no $$$ now for used stairlifts.

Hi ,
I got a used acorn 180 for my mother but don’t have installation manual, If you have one Please email
much appreciated, Thank you
-
LandolovParticipant
You’re going to have to reprogram the Rail and the Charge ports and final strike P1 and then P2 and then you bring it back to the top charge port and that finishes the Program there is more to it then you think. Where are you from?
-
TropicalDaveParticipant
Same issue as others, physical install straightforward, but programming seems a bit special. I have the T565 quick guide, but thats too quick for me…is there a detailed explanation of how to clear the memory and how to reprogram? d4vid.l4cey-at-gmail.com (number 4 replaces A in my name)…

Hi fellow Acorn owners,
I’d be grateful if someone can send me the newer(?) manual. I bought the stairlift about 3 years ago.
I’ve found this one online but my codes are different, and my PCB doesn’t have program switches: https://www.docdroid.net/DUb4BKv/acorn-180-service-manual-pdf#page=14

I’m looking for the new Installation manual For the Acorn 180 Curved Stairlift with the T565 board without any switches. I put together my own guide for programming it which I had to piece together with old and new programming guides that are out there. My Acorn Stairlift has a higher version than 0.812 I will share it here but in return, if someone has the installation guide to share I would greatly appreciate it. Hope this helps someone out there.

Can someone please email me a copy of an Acorn 180 installation manual? I would really appreciate it!
My parents have a star lift, and my mom’s scarf got caught in the gears. Of course, she didn’t say anything to any of us for several days. By the time she did, the chair was dead, my brother cranked the chair up to the top and it charged. Now, it won’t go down more than a foot, and we get a J3 error. From reading online, it looks like we just need to reprogram the datum, but I can’t get into program mode.
They have a service plan that they pay over $1000 a year for it, but the guys from Florida won’t come up to fix it. I think it’s a scam.
I’m not sure what PCB we have, but it doesn’t have any of the programming switches. I’ve attached a picture to help.
I appreciate anyone’s help in getting this going for them!
Thanks,
Jim.

Hello Acorn users,
Has anyone found the installation manual for the new acorn 180? Would please you send me a copy as well? I am trying to program one for my old father. Thank you.

RobsRepairsParticipant
Am new here. I repair locally and by video conference. There are more than 4 different 180 models in my experience. <div>
Fellow fixers: There are posts here that can destroy the OSG by improper hand-winding or electric drill wind8ng. This warning is in the Nicad Model 180 Service Manual. Second, there are several versions of the 180. Have a video on Bitchute or Rumble explaining most of these versions. Since making that video, have programmed yet another 180 version that is not listed even by Acorn.

Hi guys, just in the middle of installing a pre-owned acorn 180. I was unable to find installation manual so I’m trying to install without. I’m struggling to attach the seat/motor to the rail. There’s a small disc that isn’t aligning and sliding into the gap as it should. I’ve included photos. Any idea how to get it on? Thanks
-
BrianstrangeParticipant
The carriage should never be removed from the rail. When dis-assembly is needed, keep a section of track in the carriage. Both times I removed the carriage from the rail led to carriage failure. I would only attempt to get it on the rail with the carriage on a bench, and a piece of track fed into it. I do have an extra RH Carriage assembly for sale in the Boston, MA area
-
HayceParticipant
Appreciate the info. I purchased it with it already removed from the track. By carriage failure are you saying the carriage is deemed useless? Or if I do as suggested by setting it up on a bench I can still use it? I’ve actually already fed a piece of track onto the track in the carriage, it’s just the small disc that isn’t sliding into place. Any tips on how to get it in? Thanks for the offer, I’m actually in Australia though.
-
HayceParticipant
Just to add. There’s 2 identical discs. 1 slid in no problem because it’s aligned lower than the stuck disc. It appears as though these 2 discs control the level to keep the occupant from tilting. So I guess I need to find out how to manually adjust the level then it should slide in.
-
HayceParticipant
Came across this info: If stairlift is unlevel – turn the shaft of the leveling motor until the stairlift is level.
Just need to know where the shaft of the leveling motor is located.
