Minivator / Simplicity 950 stalled

It’s a used stairlift, been running fine for several months. Just stalled today.
When I try to operate it, after a couple of seconds it does that heavy click like it’s engaging gear. It flashes 8 or 9 in the regular manner for as long as I hold the thumb lever or remote button. But it doesn’t move.
First time I thought it was somehow caught at the track joint. I moved it with the winder, and it worked. It worked again a couple of times, but no more. I’ve left it turned off for a while, etc.
It’s not any of the safety switches – they all display the appropriate codes when triggered, and they’re all off.
Also no error codes related to charging. When not in use, the “minus” sign is displayed in the regular manner.
One set of batteries was replaced when I bought three stairlifts last year, and I’m pretty sure I put the new ones in this lift (this was the one with the faulty batteries).
Any suggestions, please? -
Two things to check
First check the motor connections on to the board are secure (black wire white wire) also check brake connection on board
If they are ok then check the batteries by replacing them with 2 new as they could still read 25volts plus but not giving amps.
If that does not cure it then it sounds like the main board is faulty.

first off, battery’s, swap them out for a known good set, as stated your not looking for voltage your looking for ah, less that 4.5 and your batteries are toast! time for new set usual cause for stalling

Started by swapping the batteries – not the problem.
I’d suspected either total failure, or a loose connection – and eventually it tuned out to be a loose connection.
The wire that goes from the LED display to the board was loose at the board – it’s kinda easy to wrench that connection around when replacing that panel with the LED. And over about 8 months since I had previously checked/swapped the batteries, it eventually worked itself loose :-(. -
Glad to hear its all up and running again, but unlikely to be that! the amount of lifts I go out to with the display faulty or not working, or with display cabled missing! that are still running!
possible by disconnecting the battery’s you reset the board? lets hope it stays running 🙂 -
Most likely a dirty relay on the PCB, very common problem on most stairlift models. Any sort of vibration to the pcb can be enough to cure the fault for a short period of time.
