Acorn 120 – how to take off main cover

We have an older model of ACORN Superglide 120 circa 2005 that needs new batteries, but I can’t figure out how to remove the main cover, because the key lock, display, and another connector are integrated into the cover (photos attached). Any idea how to get these disconnected from logic board to get enough clearance to get the cover removed? All of the materials on the internet for this model show a slightly different design with the interfering items mounted on a separate endcap plate, and not the main cover. Would be grateful for any help. Thanks!

I have a fully instructive video online. Be aware, as shown on my video, that the cover is brittle by now, and usually cracks up on reinstallation. Also, there are several other big problems with that vintage Acorn 120, whether indoor or outdoor. On my “repair diary” videos. Too long to type

The sensor panel hinges can SNAP OFF during removal. Old plastic is brittle. Plasticizer migration. (I offer a $35 solution since thin epoxy glue will not hold for long. My contact details are in my profile.)
Two weeks ago, I saw another broken hinge during a complex stairlift repair of your vintage. The breakdowns were inadvertently caused by the invalid’s husband. He said he “tinkered” with the 120 before I was contacted. Those folks already spent $2K so far. They would have saved a lot of trouble if they took up my $150 pre-purchase stairlift inspection service, which I perform, worldwide. Due to their budget, the husband said he would finish the repairs that I listed for him, with fix details. Unfortunately, two of those items are critical SAFETY components, which put his wife at risk of ACCIDENTAL DEATH.
