Acorn 180 – cant complete program cycle.
I installed an Acorn 180 stair lift for my uncle. The lift worked properly when purchased, the only changes were shorten the top run, remove a hinge track, and lengthen the bottom run.
I have an issue completing the program cycle. It makes it to the bottom charge, then limit, and back to charge. When returning to the top, it shuts down, no power or codes (Everything is dead) about 1′ from the top charge point (which would complete programming.)
Conditions:
1) I have experienced the same conditions (stops in slightly different locations) using the existing batteries as well as a set of Amazon replacement batteries (Both fully bench charged)2) I’m getting proper voltage and polarity at both top and bottom charge points.
3) I programmed the lift with speeds limited to 3 and 4 (vs 3-6) with the same results.
4) There is no debris or rough transitions between tracks
Attempted solutions:
1) Replaced with a new set, fully re-charged (on the bench) Amazon 14.8 Li-Ion batteries – SAME RESULT2) Fully charged (on the bench) the original Acorn Batteries – SAME RESULT
3) Changed the control board – SAME RESULT
4) Changed to a completely different working carriage – SAME RESULT
UNIT SPECS:
T-565 PCB (no switches), (2) Lithium Ion batteries (14.8v), 33V 1.3 ah charger
The lift is a LH outside 90 degree helix, stairs are 40 degrees with a square landing half way. In order to move the lift after it dies, I have to unplug batteries, plug them back in, and begin P1 programming to get it to the top charge point (some times multiple times.) This has been the case with all combinations mentioned above. Is there a trick that I’m missing? I feel like I’m following program procedure to a “T”-
