Anyone having lots of gearbox failures?

Is it just me or is there a big problem with a certain manufacturers (the one that grows on trees) gearboxes?

Stopped using them as much as I used to, fed up with lies thier own sales reps give to customers just to make a sale – interestingly they don’t belong to the BHTA, maybe the code of conduct would have hamstrung thier sales team, the spiel they get away with is amazing, current favourite in the south west is to deny that the trade model is the same equipment as the in-house model. On saying that there is another rather large midlands based member company who shall we say may find it handi for thier sales reps to be given a good look at the code of conduct because they are nearly as bad.
Sorry I digress.
As for the motors I’ve only had one go down in the last 12 months and another which I am keeping an eye on one as there appears to be a degree of backslap but I suspect that to be the rollers being a little tight. I know thier gaurantee period has dropped to 2 or 3 years nowadays from the original 10 years which speaks volumes!
I have heard of another two manufacturers who’ve also had gearbox issues in the last couple of years, as I don’t use thier kit I won’t name them as my info is only second hand.
