Im getting conflicting information and wondered why manufacturers withdrew bridging platforms from the market
Was it because of a change in regulations or was it a conscious decision. I have not fit one for years and never liked them but have a customer asking about one and want to advise him correctly
Yes – bridiging platforms are now excluded from compliance within EN81-40:2008. They would also contravene building regulations as when the platform is lowered the width of the landing space for transfers is usually less than the width of the stairs. This is also the same for infill steps, the option left is to install a curved stairlift.
