i have a client with a 260 going into half sped intermittently and not just as it is about to go round bend (as it should), which is also giving me a red 5 led code, i believe this may be a faulty reed switch, however my question is i assume that the lift goes into half speed on the bend by counting the rmu roller magnet on reed switch, but how does the pcb have the rail information? can this be programmed in or is this already stored on software in pcb?

Going round a bend slowing is activated mechanically by a brass finger touching the rail in the top trunnion which connects the yellow black wire to gnd through a switch above the finger.
From what you’ve detailed its more likely to be a wire break in the bottom loom or possibly a bent charge pickup rod on the lower trunnion. There is a slowing switch activated by the charge pickup rod which only becomes active after approximately 1m of travel, hence it can initially pull away from a limit and continue at full speed but when its activated during travel it will slow and eventually stop even if it doesn’t reach the travel limit. Simplest way to check is to release and reapply a call when it starts to slow on the bend, if it goes back to full speed then highly likely to be a broken wire in the loom.

that does make sense, if half speed is controlled by switch in top skate what is the purpose of rmu counter/roller and reed switch in bottom skate?

RMU run monitoring unit, the pulse confirms that the triangular roller/activator for the overspeed governor is rotating during travel, no rmu pulse means the lift must stop.

So there may potentially be two separate faults? Although I do believe when I had a 5 red led fault code the lift still moved?

Could be 2 faults but I would suspect a common cause – breaks in the bottom trunion/skate wiring. The wires for slowing, RMU and gnd connections are all in the same loom and have all suffered the same stresses, so its sensible to consider that they may have failed within a similar time period.
