nvq2 stairlift install/removal/service and repair, did it through Stannah when they decided that they were going to try and push the cowboys out the industry by setting a standard, it didn’t work! my present company keep pushing me to do a 3 in lifts, but I prefer my lifts on stairs not in shafts
Did I gain much from it? well it was part of the pay rise scheme at Stannah, do the nvq and your pay rate rises, do both sections install and servicing and your on the top rate, it didn’t mean you were a better installer, it just meant you could write a good job and answer the (internal) assessors questions and write down the answers they wanted to rea, its just a way of proving that you can do the job, work in a safe manor and understand the safety regs involved in the industry
will it further your career? difficult to say? there are firms out there that will want you to have it and there others that don’t give a toss about it, its down to you at the end of the day, if you do it or not
do I feel that it got me further up the career ladder? It got my toe in the door at a few firms so its not a total waste of time
