ok sounds like the osg has kicked in! find the handwinding handle, flick the battery isolation switch off and wind the lift UP the rail about 6”, then you will need to reset the safety gear, can be done without stripping the covers off if you know what your doing, but we will remove the covers on the cluster allowing better access to it
on the lower rail, there are a set of covers around the drive gear (pinion) these need to come off, easy job, a few screws, keep thep together as you remove them and dont mix them (different size, length screws) just remove the lower side covers, should give you enough room to work, winding the lift up the rail takes the pressure off the safety gear and allows you to lift it free of the rail, there is a round pin, the safety gear is held clear of the rail by this pin, the spring is kept in place by a spring pulling on it, you need to lif the pin up andthen rotate/lift the safety gear mech, till its clear of the rail and drop the pin into the cut out on the safety gear, its difficult to explain but when you see it, it will make sense
once the pin is in the cut out and holding the safety gear back, switch on the battery isolation switch and put an UP call in! that way if the osg trips again it wont dig into the rail and you wont need to hand wind it AGAIN! before you reset it again, if it runs ok check the condition of the rail where it stopped, if the rail is damaged where the safety gear bit into it! take a fine file to the damage and smooth it out, nothing excessive just smooth off the burr! then place a down call in….hopefully it will run past the place it stopped? DO NOT run the lift into the lower charge point with the cluster covers removed! replace the covers before you complete the run into the charge point, test run the lift a few times up and down the rail, as the lift has been off charge for a while, stick it on charge over night before using it in anger!
also with the cluster cover off check the condition of the two peice roller and the other rollers they should be whole with no chunks missing or flats! they should be completly round! if not they need replacing, make sure they are clean and there is no build up on them, or the rail! watch them while the lift runs they should roll, not slide! they are called rollers for a reasom 🙂
good luck, and dont get any grease on the rail or the rollers as it will b u g g e r them up! wipe it off with a industrial wipe or a lightly damp cloth, any stubburn build up on the rail use a soft dish pan sponge the scubbing side to remove the build up, they are tough enough to break up the crap but not to damage the rail unless you go loopy with it!
