Unlikely you’ve damaged the stairlift. Maybe you blew the charger when you cut it, or maybe another connection has come loose while you’ve been trying to sort it. Start by checking you’re getting 24~30VAC out of the charger and if that’s OK work your way along the circuit and hope you don’t have to dive too deep before you find the problem. Good luck.
