Small cam is a physical stop used as a final fail safe. fitting this incorrectly will damage terminal limit switches and final limit switch. In addittion if the unit has been set up incorrectly and its travel has been impeded, most likely the power pack fuse has opened. easy error to make. the carriage now requires an engineer to remove for closer inspection.
