Hello,
I want to intervene on a freelift Van Gogh 2009 that has lost “its memory”. Anyone knows if it can be teached again to move on the rail? Or is there a program tool required? Handicare (Holland) doesn’t want to do the reprogramming.

The program is on a smart card in the main PCB which you shouldn’t need to touch you’ll probably just need to reset the datum, open the case and you’ll see two control switches one two way and one three way, set the three way to the flat arrows and the other switch will then drive the lift up or down.
Take it up to the top charge point, flip the switch to the circular arrow and level the seat, move the three way back to center and the lift should behave correctly. Check the remotes are operational as well. -
be very careful! by operating the lift via these controls, you bypass the safety circuits and can cause the lift to over travel! your in a world hurt then! also the chair will not level as you run it and can cause injury or get jammed on the wall on the way up! seen it done!
as mentioned there are engineer control buttons on the carriage, you will need to remove the carriage covers and replace them correctly as they are a major safety point and need to be replaced and secured correctly for the safety edges to work!
its not a job I would advise someone with little or no knowledge of doing, I hate these lift nearly as much as flows!
but here goes…
preferable remove the chair, makes it easier, three screws and the front cover pops off, you should see a couple of cables plugged together along with a couple of shorting plugs? if the plugs are not there? they could be inside the carriage on the battery strap? if they not there you will need to leave the chair in place and level it up as you go, other wise unplug the cables remove seat unit and plug in shorting plugs
with the carriage covers removed you will see two rocker switches, one with arrows, direction control, the other with circular arrows, chair levelling and directional arrows, drive unit control
flick switch to drive, and press a direction button, lift should move? if the chair is still on it will stay in its present position so as the lift moves it will start to lean and possibly hit the wall or you as it moves, stop lift, flick switch to level control and push direction switch to level seat up flick back to drive and run the lift up to the top charge point and STOP short of the end of the rail
then look down at the rear of the rail and you will see the charge point, two silver plates in a black plastic housing, now look at the rear of the carriage, you should see the charge pins? you need to position these centrally on the charge points a pin on each plate, then switch the buttons back to the central position, you have just reset the datum so fingers crossed it should now work?
using a remote send the lift down the stairs
it should now stop at the bottom and be on charge?
if so? now stick it all back together! you are better running the lift to a position on the stairs where you can get to it and with the help of someone who knows good curse words! replace the covers, the spring loaded knobs have to go into holes on the carriage frame, then holding them in place, line up the holes and stick the screws back in, all of them including the two round the back and underneath……
now deep breath and try again…..
with the covers on, chair goes back on, shorting plugs out, reconnect all the leads, tuck them away, cover on and away you go…..if you manage that please post your cv to a few companies as I know engineers that struggle like crazy with these lifts!
