Long term storage of Minivator 950 & Acorn 130

Can I connect the relevant mains charger/s to a carriage that is removed from the rails for long(ish) storage to keep the batteries alive.
Two stairlift carriages including batteries will be stored in the house while each set of rails will be stored in my dampish garage/workshop.
I have determined which leads are going to the (NON sliding rail) Minivator 950 single carbon brush with the empty brush holder immediately below. I can also readily see the brown and blue wires to the Acorn contacts.
I am hopeful if I connect the relevant charger/s to the above leads the whole set up will charge and keep the batteries alive.

Richard

depends on the condition and age of the battery’s, both lift run 12v7ah battery’s
these battery are us if they drop below 4.5ahand as they are cheap over the counter battery’s £20 each at screwfix last time i had to buy a set! its up to you to see if they are worth keeping in the long run? but if you are up for keeping them, take them out and pop them on a cheap battery charger in the corner and swap them around every couple of days to keep them topped up

I’ll try for the 3rd time…my 2 x earlier posts have disappeared….thanks Spike..I hoped keeping the batteries on charge would have been the answer. When my wife fully needs the stairlifts I/she will have 4 x straight stairlifts servicing 2 x staircases both with 1/2 landings i.e. staircase from ground the 1st floor another from 1st floor to attic…regards and again thanks..Richard

Only a battery maintainer for motorcycles will not over-cook SLA batteries. Yesterday, I tested 4 batteries on 2 Acorn 120’s with a $400 professional battery analyzer. All were below 3.6AH. One was down to 1.3AH. One had High Self Discharge resulting in an unbalanced pair. Both Acorn straight stair lifts had unbalaced pairs. I have many Repair Diary video clips, some on this subject matter. Too much to text. There is a much more protentially very costly issue facing you, in the long run.

FYI … CAUTIONARY TRUE STORY .. A faulty Minivator nearly amputated fingers during a battery swap ..and there was another health hazard encountered. Too much to text.
