Minivator 950 Down travel only

Hi… My latest and thankfully last to be purchased Minivator 950 will only travel down the rail.
BTW the rail is presently on my work bench and is accordingly horizontal.
The switch on the arm rest will make it travel down but not up the rail
The seat moves downwards when I push the lever on the arm rest in the downward direction . However; when I press the up direction arm rest switch nothing happens, no click nor movement.
I cannot see a loose or broken wire of any colour to the PCB or anywhere else.
However there is a 4 wire fitting within a red sheath where one end is not connected, it connects one end to the PCB (black-yellow-blue-red) but the other end is not connected (it is loose) but there is a 4 connection unused socket immediately next to it. I am hesitant to just connect the loose end in case it is wrong to do so.
I welcome any thoughts.

Have you tried changing over the motor wires on the cob and see if it works the other way round.
If you have a directional problem it’s usually a safety switch being activated on the side it won’t travel. This could be on the carriage or the footrest

due to the angle of the seat, i would suggest footrest safety pad issue? the footrest has three switches, left, right and undertray/pivot switch, this is the the most common failure, either the switch itself or the wires to it, but i would suggest starting by looking at the footrest cover plate positioning and centralising it to allow the switches to be made
there are possibly some shorting plugs hooked onto the loom behind the seat/footrest interface covers
as for the red sheafed cable, unplug it and bin it
