Stannah 420

Hi, recently my Stannah 420 will no longer traverse up the rail, instead it just rotates the seat. If I manually wind up, it will move back down quite happily, but if I press to go up the seat just rotates. Im pretty sure it will be the top limit switch where by the chair thinks its at the top hence the chair rotates. Can someone point me in the direction as to what pins to check on the logic board to test this, or better still how to remove the covers to gain access to the switches to test at switch terminals. Or if any one else can suggest a root cause. All “hazzard” switches seem to operate correctly. Manuals or suggestions would be a great help, Im pretty sure its a simple fix. Many thanks in advance

should be on the AP plug, pins 2 and 3 grey/black orange/black and pins 4 and 5 pink/black white/black, depending on the handing of the lift? lhd/rhd
there may be a wiring diagram stuck to the back of the footrest panel? will need to pull that off to get to the seat loom plug as the circuit for the stop switches contains the seat swivel switches, so you can test the stop switches separately between the AP plug and the 12 way seat plug if needed
if you look at the rail you will see two white arrow heads sticking out, one is the slowing ramp the other the stopping ramp, the switch you looking for, is on the front of the carriage under the footrest, will be a set of three, top and bottom stop switch and the middle on the over travel switch, they clip into the carriage cover and can be pulled out if you can get to themthe switch

Fantastic many thanks for the info, much appreciated, I will take a look next time I visit ( hopefully soon when lock down lifts). Please excuse my ignorance when you state AP plug, what do you refer? Were is this located. I am pretty sure it is one of the 3 switches you refer to in the last sentence, as I believe the stair lift thinks it is at the top all the time, hence the chair will only swivel when trying to traverse upwards. Is it possible to this issue to occur after a bump of some sort as when ambulance crew attended last, it hasn’t worked properly since – was fine prior to them attending. Do you have any advise on how to remove carriage cover as I don’t want to snap or break anything in the process making it worse. Will keep you updated 🙂
