it should already be in the base plate? remove the screw and see if there if a hexagonal insert in the base plate? if there is loosen the other screws on the base plate, stick the correct size allen key in and wind it around till you feel pressure and the base plate is lifting, if not loosen the screws set the rail level and place a couple of washers, packing shims (should be able to get some from a good diy store) under the base plate to pack it out to hold it in that position, I always set the rail with a very slight lean back, this takes up the slack in the rollers, carriage and chair and lets it run level when you are sitting on the lift

got to look and see what that is in the base plate looks hexagonal don’t see a screw head like that fix 13 shows For whatever reason . . .the foot rest hit a step about 5 feet from the bottom of the rail when coming up. Did not hit anything while coming down. Is there an adjustment of the footrest to raise it or lower it a bit. This footrest is barely clearing the steps near the bottom of the rail . . . .better clearance at the middle and top sections ??

Fredt Holy smokes .. . .the adjuster is built into the base My son installed mine and never adjusted the adjuster. I was seeing a hole that goes right to the step carpet because there is no “fixing” screw, , , ,nothing is holding the front of the foot to the floor. don’t know if that is the reason it hit a step. Must be an up-down adjustment for the footrest. People range from 6’5″ down to 4’8″ so there must be some adjustment. I’d prefer the lean back you talked about . . .unfortunately mine is probably a lean forward I’ll get the 6mm allen key

Seat to footrest adjustment is made by lifting the seat higher
check the distance from the nosing to the under side of the rail and adjust the brackets till this measurementvis consistent along the rail length, I think the distance is in the install manual?
Can’t open it due to lack of G here in Oxford today 😟 Lost my connection several times while typing this reply
once that is set screw down the rail and check for lean, then adjust as required, you just need enough lean back to move the bubble off center in the level, nothing excessive! Make sure the rail looks good when you look down it from the landing, no twists or kinks!
Once it’s screwed down for a couple of weeks check it over again and adjust as necessary, the carpet will compress under load so the screws will need a tweaking
this is normally done on the (fluff and buff) first service, used to be after three months -

Allan you helped me with my minivator 1000 and finally got it running with help of tech which I could only recently get/ Works ok . . .makes groaning noise when going down to bottom. . .Makes slight whistling noise going up. Must be the brake on descent. Hope all is well with you and that you avoided the virus. Things not so good in the states. We got a president that should have never been elected. HOPELESS! Usa makes up 4% of worlds population and we have 25 % of worlds deaths and cases. Government totally unprepared. Hope it is better where you are at richard 295

is it load related? could be the brake? also could be rollers? check they run free, no dust or debri build up on them? you can remove the upper and lower safety pads and see the rollers, try changing your seating position in the chair to alter the loading on the rollers and see if that changes the sound? also check the safety pads are located properly and not rubbing or catching on the rail?
yeah the states does seem a little f’ked up at the moment! I’m on a lift group that is mainly Americans, a lot of trump supporters! they are kicking off about losing their freedoms and rights about having to wear a mask and calling the cv19 thing a big conspiracy hoax thing and then post about another ‘brother’ (union guys) passing and saying take care out there….
its not much better here tbh! masks to worn in public places, shops, gloves to worn at the filling station when handling the pump, people as just not doing it, either too lazy or too stupid and no one is really kicking off at them
on the upside most of my sites are empty and and have loads of antibac dispensers which are full, so I get to refill my pocket bottle daily, saves me a fortune! 🙂
