Thank you so much – Kevin and Ianb for your advice. The chair had a 500mA Slow fuse but we tried 500mA Fast fuses which blew. A thorough check of all wiring and positioning and a replacement 500mA Slow fuse seems to have done the trick! My husband says the original fuse was tired but now we know where and what to look for in any future recurrence.
Thank you too for the heads-up about warranty. I rang Stannah about this as we have a new self-funded stairlift on which Stannah give a two year guarantee and twice yearly service – we got only one year’s guarantee and one service included. This is because we live in N Ireland and are at the mercy of the sole Stannah agent here who is free to give the minimum the law requires. Anyone living outside Stannah’s installation area should be aware of a restriction such as this.
