Fredt Holy smokes .. . .the adjuster is built into the base My son installed mine and never adjusted the adjuster. I was seeing a hole that goes right to the step carpet because there is no “fixing” screw, , , ,nothing is holding the front of the foot to the floor. don’t know if that is the reason it hit a step. Must be an up-down adjustment for the footrest. People range from 6’5″ down to 4’8″ so there must be some adjustment. I’d prefer the lean back you talked about . . .unfortunately mine is probably a lean forward I’ll get the 6mm allen key
