Thanks for the reply as you have solved my initial problem as it appears that the remote was simply locked out. I now still have a new remote to get set up with the stairlift but at least there is no great hurry and I can try making more enquires with local engineers. It just appears that after calling several companies in the Newcastle area where I live no one seemed to want to get involved as soon as I mentioned that it was a Freelift Van Gogh as they all stated that I need to get in touch with Handicare who sent me the new remote. Again I must say thank you for resolving my issues and my mother is so impressed with your helpfulness she would also like to thank you.
You are all very welcome, happy to have helped.
Shame a simple job of reprogramming/pairing a remote is difficult to have an engineer to attend, no special faultfinding/calibration tools are required for this lift.
