Update..I found that the plastic tab covering the stop switch had been warped inward, probably from the carriage and chair laying on its side against the rail for a few months in the seller’s garage. I used a heat gun to warp the plastic switch cover back into shape, as it was prematurely triggering the stop switch. As it turns out, it was nothing directly attributable to the reversing of the mechanism under the seat, except perhaps a small weight redistribution as a result of changing the pivot.
